Moraine Lake Lodge is open from June 1 to early October each year - the peak of the summer in the Canadian Rockies

The temperatures are what you might expect at 6,300 feet, ranging from evening lows in the 50s F (10-14C) to daytime highs in the mid-70s F (20-23C). It is not uncommon to have a mirror-like glaze on the lake in the morning and a soothing, warm breeze in the late afternoon.

For photographers, the weather provides unexpected opportunities - a mid-summer's dusting of snow creates spectacular contrasts.

Mid-September sees the larch trees (at the 7,500-foot level) turn a beautiful golden hue. Combined with brisk mountain air and the natural beauty of the lake and forests, this is truly the most spectacular time of the year.

Alpine Wildflower Season: July 15 - August 30
Mushroom Season: August 1 - 20
Larch Season: September 15 - 30
